Note
A piece of sheet material wrapped around the spine of a textblock to provide conjugate endleaves at each end of the bookblock. To supply a pastedown and free endleaf at each end, two wrapper-type endleaves would be used. These endleaves are commonly found on longstitch, external support, and stitched structures, as well as single- or multi-gathering books held together by primary tackets. In all of these structures, they are sewn through, tacketed or stitched with the text gatherings. They can also be found, occasionally, as an added endleaf in bindings with covers secured by secondary tackets and, very exceptionally, in inboard bindings and case bindings.
