Condition assessment

The condition assessment of the manuscripts in the monastery has been recently completed. The books were assessed one by one using a paper form which can be found here. Conservators have been travelling to the monastery two or three times a year to carry out the assessment. The information collected has been transferred to a database which had been developed for this purpose. The complete collection of the manuscripts has now been examined. More information about each individual trip can be found under progress in the left-hand menu.

The material collected during this project has been digitised and is available after permission for use from the Monastery. The digitisation process involved the development of a relational database to hold the paper form information and the conversion of about 35000 colour slides to digital images in JPEG2000 format.
